Long Summer

Hello everybody. It has recently come to my attention that... SUMMER'S OVER! I know, it's hard getting back into the swing of things after you've been partying all summer. As much as I hate leaving summer behind (A lot happened for me but that's later), it also means that now there is more time to do things for Wacky Canoe. YAY, and now I get to write it out to you on my Nintendo Wii. I was away all summer so I didn't get a chance to make any stuff for Wacky Canoe. Over the course of the summer I was thinking a lot about our purpose at Wacky Canoe.

I thought a lot about what we have been doing at Wacky Canoe. I have decided what we as Wacky Canoe stand for. I know I haven't really talked about this with anyone else but I do believe that this is what God wants us to do. If you didn't gather this from before, that I am a Christian, now you know. Yes I am a Christian and I don't denny it. I know that Wacky Canoe hasn't really been doing a lot of typical "christian" production (like vegietales). I have realized that we need to use our skills to serve God.

This doesn't mean that all the sudden our videos are going to have bible verses at the end of each segment. In fact, not a lot will change in terms of the content of our videos. When Raging Racoon and I first set out to start Wacky Canoe, both of us agreed that we wanted content apropraiate for all ages. I think we have been keeping very steady with this. Over the course of the summer I realized how much affect the media has on our society.

You may not realize it, but the media actualy feeds your brain with lies. The media tells you what you need to wear, eat, drink, drive and have for you to be cool and happy. In fact, all of these are lies. You don't need to have a certain thing just because the man in a suit said you should. The other problem I have with today's media is that a lot of our comedy's are CRAP! I don't mean that they are poorly done. I mean that they are just stupid. I must say I was a fan of Napolean Dynamyte, but this is not the humor I am talking about.

I am talking more about things like familly guy and south park. These shows are just plain crude and are not really funny at all. I'll sometimes hear people talk about it and what I'm hearing is just saddening. There is a lot of content in those shows that is just not nessecary. Have we as a society run out of good jokes that the only jokes we can think of are crude jokes. Not to mention other shows like Happy Tree Friends that take cute little furry animals and kill them in horrible ways. That is only TV shows, there are also videogames, movies and all other sorts of stuff. The even worst part about it is that most of our moddern day media has a lot of this content in it.

In fact, most kids and teenagers consume a lot of this media. ON average they will consume up to 20 hours a week. That's almost as much time that they spend at school in a week. I personally believe that there is either two solutions to this problem. Either, Stop or prevent the spread of this media, or change the media that is being sent out. I would personally label the first solution impossible. That is because most of our modern day world is run by media. The media actually plays a very important part in shaping our society. Now if this is the case, wouldn't it make more sense to change the media.

I know what you should be thinking,"How can we possibly change the media?" Well, that's actually the easy part. The tricky part is changing enough of the mdia. If we were to just change the media so that youth( and everyone for that matter) would be getting a better message, then that could make a difference in our society. The reason I mainly talk about chainging the media for teenagers and kids is because the media tries to target these age groups. These people are the people of the next generation. So if the media can succeed with screwing them up, then they can screw up the generations to follow.

Many teenagers and young adults suffer from depressions and anxiety attacks. This is usually connected with the media. Many of these teens and even kds are told how they have to look at what they need to fit in. And as I said before is that these are all lies. You don't need to wear a certain sweater to make you fit in. Well, that used to be the case until the media came along and said it was so. I may make the media sound like a bad thing. At the moment it actualy is. However, we may be able to change this curse into a blessing.

At Wacky Canoe our goal is to fix the problem the media has caused by creating a more friendly form of media. We are not going to use crude humor in a way that is anti-hillarious (a word I made up) and offensive. We also want to change the media so that it will hel people instead of look down on them. Instead of focusing on what a celebrity has done wrong, maybe we can focus on what they have done for the good of others. We can create content that will appeal to all and give a good positive message.

We will start small. We believe that God wants things to start small so that he can grow it. This way we can put our pride out of the way. Second, create a content that will apeal to everyone in a way that will help them. This would include something that teens can watch and be entertained by without things like crude humor changing their definition of funny.

In fact, there is another Christian production team called Jelly Fish Labs, and they are currently working on something called Jelly Telly (www.jellytelly.com). If you go there you can watch a cool demo that shows how we can change and help the one growing up get a better message. Don't worry, we will still make Forged Physics and Living Cartoons, but we will also make other content that is appropriate. We too want to help progress God's kingdom with the use of a good media.

WOW! That's a lot of typing: Crazzy Moose
